For the second year in a row, the four-diamond Hotel Commonwealth has been named a finalist in the category "Most Excellent Hotel for 2007" by Condé Nast Johansens, the international luxury travel guide for premium hotels, resorts and spas. Formerly presented in New York City, this year's awards ceremony will be held at the Hotel Bel-Air, in Los Angeles, CA. The 150 room Hotel Commonwealth is one of five nominees for this prestigious award; other hotels nominated were: Nine Zero in Boston, MA, the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, CA, Hay Adams in Washington, DC, and The Sutton Place Hotel Vancouver in Vancouver, British Columbia. According to Condé Nast Johansens, nominees are selected from the 285 properties featured in the 2007 Recommended Hotels, Inns, Resorts & Spas, and are based on the Condé Nast team of inspectors and the recommendations of hotel guests. "The awards represent the wonderfully diverse vacation preferences of our readers," said Lesley O'Malley-Keyes, Condé Nast Johansens Vice President and Publishing Director for the Americas . "While each destination has a distinct personality and signature amenities, each must display an exceptional level of accommodation and service, so whether they're zip-lining above the forest canopy in Argentina or enjoying tea at a country estate in British Columbia, our readers are assured the very best." The winner of last year's award for "Most Excellent Hotel" was the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles. Hotel Commonwealth opened in May 2003 and features two award-winning restaurants, elegant meeting rooms, a stylish lounge and a gallery of retail shops. "We are greatly honored to again be included in such a group of nominees, and we congratulate the Hay Adams on its selection this year," said Terrence Guiney, Principle and Managing Director of Hotel Commonwealth. "For us at the Commonwealth it is a wonderful recognition of what we have been able to accomplish in a little over three years. We have built a team of hotel professionals who understand why we chose this profession. The Condé Nast Johansens nomination honors our remarkable team, who make the 'Most Excellent' guest experience happen every day."
