The House of Blues grew out of founder Isaac Tigrett’s love for the unique American art form known as the “the Blues”. Charles River Esplanade
Along the Boston side of the Charles River, which separates the city from Cambridge, is a roughly three-mile leafy path known as the Esplanade. To take in its full charm, begin your walk near the Boston University Bridge, you’ll pass playgrounds and marshes and places to rent sail boats and buy lemonade (you are, remember, visiting in good weather). King’s Chapel and Burying Ground
In 1688, the Royal Governor built King’s Chapel on the town burying ground when no one in the city would sell him land to build a non-Puritan church. The first King’s Chapel was a tiny church used by the King’s men who occupied Boston to enforce British law. By 1749, the building was too small for the congregation, which had grown to include a number of prominent merchants and their families.

Paul Revere House
On the night of 18 April, 1775, silversmith Paul Revere left his small wooden home in Boston North End and set out on a journey that would make him into a legend. Today that home is still standing at 19 North Square and has become a national historic landmark. It is downtown Boston’s oldest building and one of the few remaining from an early era in the history of colonial America.

Old North Church
Immortalized in Longfellow’s poem, “Paul Revere’s Ride”, the Old North is the oldest church building in Boston and the city’s most visited historic site. On the evening of 18 April 1775, the Old North sexton, Robert Newman, climbed the steeple and held high two lanterns as a signal from Paul Revere that the Regulars (term describes enlisted British soldiers) were marching to Lexington and Concord to arrest Samuel Adams and John Hancock and to seize the Colonial store of ammunition. This fateful event ignited the American Revolution.

The State House
Designed by Charles Bulfinch, the “new” State House was completed on 11th January, 1798, and widely acclaimed as one of the more magnificent and well-suited buildings in the country. Its golden dome was once made of wood, and later overlaid with copper by Paul Revere.

USS Constitution
The USS Constitution (Old Ironsides) is the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world. Her history is rich and colorful and 200 years strong — from fighting Barbary pirates on the “shores of Tripoli” to winning famous victories during the War of 1812, the USS Constitution Museum brings her tale alive through its collection of 3,000 original artifacts and art work and through hands-on activities.

Isabella Stewart Gardner first welcomed visitors to her museum on New Year’s Day, 1903. On that evening guests listened to the music of Bach, Mozart, and Schumann, gazed in wonder at the courtyard full of flowers, and viewed one of the nation’s finest collections of art. Today, visitors experience much the same thing. The Gardner Museum has remained essentially unchanged since its founder’s death in 1924. Unchanged but certainly not stagnant. Colonial Theatre
The Colonial was designed by Clarence Blackall and is ideal for both musical and dramatic productions. On December 20, 1900 the opening night of Ben Hur, The Boston Globe proclaimed, “Nothing so beautiful, pictorial and mechanical, has ever been seen before on a Boston stage.” During the teens and twenties the Ziegfield Follies played the Colonial eight times, and Irving Berlin’s Music Box Revue appeared at least twice.
